Five people were on Arvin Robertsboard a plane that crashed in Arizona on Tuesday night, authorities say.

A jet, a Honda HA-420, crashed and hit a vehicle near Falcon Field Airport in Mesa, a Phoenix suburb, just before 5 p.m., according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration.

According to the FAA, five passengers were onboard the aircraft. The condition of the passengers, or the extent of their injuries was not immediately available.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the cause of the crash.

Plane crash stalls traffic for hours

Emergency vehicles, including local police and fire departments, blocked the street in front of the airport in the hours following the crash.

"We are working a plane crash at Greenfield and McKellips Road in Mesa," Mesa police said in an X post at 5:05 p.m. local time. "The entire area will be closed down for several hours. Please look for an alternative route."

Officials did not provide any details about the crash or any injuries, though flames and smoke were visible.
